The Plot of the X-Men Movies: Part 2

     Before you read this, you should read my previous post on the first part of his trilogy: The Plot of the X-Men Movies: Part 1.

     The next movie is based on two X-Men storylines called "Gifted" and "The Dark Phoenix Saga". It starts in the past with Magneto and Xavier going to meet Jean Grey as a young girl to recruit her. We then move to the present, where Worthington Industries have developed a "cure" for mutation, made from the genes of Leech. Some mutants kind of want to take it, like Rogue, while the rest are heavily offended. Due to this, Magneto reassembles the Brotherhood of Mutants, including Mystique, Pyro, Juggernaut, Callisto, Psylocke, Multiple Man, Arclight, and a few others. Meanwhile, Cyclops goes back to Alcali Lake, where Jean vanished. Jean suddenly comes out of the water and kills Cyclops. Xavier senses it and sends Storm and Wolverine to go see. They see that most of the lake has evaporated, rocks are floating telekinetically as well as Cyclops's glasses, and Jean is unconscious. They bring her back to Xavier, who explains that she is the most powerful mutant he'd ever seen and that when she saved them, she had unleashed an evil alternate personality of herself called the Phoenix and that he'd suppressed it. Wolverine is angry at this and later, Jean wakes up, is distraught at the fact that she killed Cyclops, then the Phoenix takes over, knocks out Wolverine, and Jean leaves to go to her childhood home. Magneto also learns of the Phoenix and arrives at Jeans house with Xavier to talk to Jean about which side she should join. But then, the Phoenix regains control, destroys the house, kills Xavier, and goes off with Magneto.

     Mystique is depowered, abandoned by Magneto, and interrogated by the FBI, who realize that Magneto's base is in the woods, but really, they're just duplicates of Multiple Man. The Brotherhood attack Alcatraz when Magneto moves the Golden Gate Bridge to do so. The X-Men and the military arrive and try to stop them. Kitty Pryde saves Leech from Juggernaut while Colossus and Wolverine do a fastball special to distract Magneto long enough for Beast to inject Magneto with the "cure", nullifying his power. The army comes and tries to shoot Phoenix, who disintegrates all of them and begins to destroy everything and everyone. Wolverine is able to approach Jean without dying thanks to his healing factor and Jean is able to regain control and begs Wolverine to save her by killing her, which he does. Mutant rights are eventually obtained and Storm replaces Xavier as the headmistress of the Xavier School. Beast becomes the ambassador for the United Nations, Rogue reveals to Iceman that she took the cure, a depowered Magneto plays chess, yet is somehow able to slightly move a piece, which might mean that the cure doesn't last forever. Somewhere, Moira Mactaggert is caring for a patient that is apparently Xavier, somehow alive.

     Now we turn our attention to the Deadpool movies. The first one starts out with Deadpool, who is a special forces operative and becomes engaged to a woman named Vanessa but leaves her when he realized he had terminal cancer and doesn't want her to see him die. He is taken by Angel Dust and Ajax who inject him with a serum to activate his mutant genes and put him through tons of torture until his healing factor activates, which cures his cancer, but leaves him disfigured. He attacks Ajax, but then stops after he tells him that there is a cure for his disfigurement, after which he knocks him out and leaves him in a burning lab. But, Deadpool survives, tries to find Vanessa, makes friends with a guy named Weasel, tries to find Ajax for the cure, and becomes a vigilante named Deadpool. He lives with an old and blind woman named AI, kills many of Ajax's men, tries to stop Ajax at one point but is stopped and recruited by the X-Men Colossus and his trainee, Negasonic Teenage Warhead. Ajax kidnaps Vanessa and Deadpool convinces Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Colossus to help him. They fight Angel Dust and some other men, they save Vanessa, Deadpool kills Ajax, and reconciles and Vanessa.

     In Deadpool 2, Vanessa dies and Deadpool tries to commit suicide but fails and is fixed by Colossus and has only one memento of her. Deadpool joins the X-Men and he goes with Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead to go confront and deal with a young mutant called Firefist at a mutant orphanage. Deadpool realizes that Firefist has been badly treated by the staff and kills one of their members, is stopped by Colossus, is arrested alongside Firefist, and are give collars to restrain their powers. Meanwhile, a cybernetic mutant soldier named Cable comes from the future via time travel to kill Firefist and nearly does so, but Deadpool's collar comes off and he stops Cable, who goes off with Vanessa's token. He then assembles a team together called X-Force to rescue Firefist and protect him from Cable. But all of the members die except for Deadpool and Domino, who can control probability to make herself lucky. They fight Cable while Firefist frees another prisoner, the Juggernaut, who agrees to help him kill his cruel headmaster, after which Cable agrees to help Deadpool because in the future, Firefist will become a serial killer and killed Cable's family and it will all start with him killing his headmaster. So, they go back to the school, defeat the Juggernaut, the headmaster is eventually killed, Firefist and Cable both have a change of heart, they fix Cable's time travelling machine and save Vanessa and Colossus.

     The next movie is called "The Wolverine", and it starts in 1945, where Wolverine saves a Japanese man named Ichiro Yashida. In the present day, Wolverine is the Yukon and is still thinking about Jean after he killed her. By then, Ichiro is in charge of a business company in Japan and sends a mutant named Yukio, with the power of seeing how people will die. Yukio takes Wolverine to Ichiro, who is dying of cancer and wants to repay Wolverine for saving his life years ago. Wolverine meets Ichiro's son Shingen, and Shingen's daughter, Mariko, with whom he falls in love with. Wolverine gets infected by something by Ichiro's doctor, Viper. Ichiro dies, Mariko almost gets kidnapped by Japanese gangsters, they fight on the train, Wolverine isn't healing as fast as he should, Mariko and Wolverine run away to a hotel, while Viper meets Silver Samurai #1 and tells him to find Wolverine and Mariko. Yukio sees a possible death of Wolverine and goes to warn him, while Mariko is kidnapped by gangsters, and Wolverine and Yukio figure out that the gangsters were sent by Mariko's fiancée and Shingen, since Ichiro's company was meant to be given to Mariko, and not Shingen. Mariko is brought to Shingen just before being kidnapped again by ninjas sent by Silver Samurai #1. Then Yukio and Wolverine arrive and learn that there is a robotic parasite in Wolverine's heart, that is stopping his healing factor, which he removes, and the kills Shingen.

     They then go after Mariko, who is in Ichiro's old Village, where they are kidnapped by Silver Samurai's ninjas and Viper tells them that she plans to extract Wolverine's healing factor. She also introduces them to Silver Samurai #2, who has powerful Japanese armor, and adamantium energy-charged swords. But, Mariko escapes, Silver Samurai #1 gets a change of heart, frees Wolverine, and gets killed Silver Samurai #2. Then Yukio comes and kills Viper, while Wolverine fights Silver Samurai #2, who chops off his claws and tries to absorb his healing factor. It is revealed that Silver Samurai #2 is actually Ichiro, who survived, but is then stabbed by Mariko with one of Wolverine's claws. Wolverine's claws regrow as bone claws. He the kills Ichiro, gets over Jean's death, Mariko is in charge of Ichiro's industry, Yukio vows to be Wolverine's bodyguard, and they finally leave Japan. Two years later, Professor X and Magneto come to him and warn him of a huge threat to the mutant population.
